With my new job as a climbing guide running from March through October, I've ended up with several months on my hands over the winter to do with what I will! Over the season I saved up enough money to throw a trip together.
My original concept was just go to Rio de Janeiro for the whole winter to practice my Portuguese and immerse myself in Brazilian culture. As ever, things quickly got out of hand.
The final plan can be found on the right, which is much more packed than my original plan!
My musher friend may be gearing up for her final season racing and is in somewhat desperate need of help. She wanted me to come until March, but I still wanted to make my Brazil plans happen so I agreed to split my winter between the two!
I then discovered I have friends who are spending Christmas and New Years in Spain, so I figured I'd make a pit-stop there on my way to Brazil to hang out with them.
In Brazil I'll be staying with my aunt in Rio de Janeiro, exploring the city by bicycle, climbing as many rocks as the Brazilian summer will allow, and practicing my Portuguese.
Then, I'll finally get to give bikepacking a real shake! My father got me a nice touring bicycle for my graduation from UNC in May, and I'll be taking it on a 1,300 mile trip from Key West, FL back home to Durham, NC as it's maiden voyage!
That's what y'all can expect to read about in the coming months!

I'm writing my trip bible in Tengwar script from Lord of The Rings. If you're that motivated, here's a translation sheet!
